Nose Ala Reduction

Alar Reduction

A way to create a refined look by surgically reducing wide nostrils

If you are troubled by wide or flared alae that make your nostrils look large, alar reduction, which removes alar skin or pulls and sutures the alae, can complete a prettier nose shape.

About

What is Alar Reduction?

Even a simple alar reduction can achieve sufficient improvement in appearance

Some people are troubled by wide or flared alae that make their nostrils look large.

In such cases, alar reduction—removing skin from the nostrils or pulling and suturing the alae—can complete a more beautiful nose shape. Beyond that, it helps you overcome insecurities about your nose and gain confidence in your appearance.

  • The nose sits at the very center of the face, so its shape and size are more important than anything.
  • Even a simple alar reduction can achieve sufficient improvement in appearance.
  • Wide alae make the nose look blunt and give an overall dull impression.
  • A bulbous nose characterized by flared alae can be improved through alar reduction.

Ideal Nose

The Rules of a Beautiful Nose

Beauty Story knows the rules of a beautiful nose. A beautiful nose has precise left-right symmetry, a length of about one-third of the face, and a tip height of about two-thirds of the nose length, and it should generally be shaped with a side profile reminiscent of a traditional boat-shaped curve.

FAQ

FAQ

How long does alar reduction surgery take?

It is performed under partial (local) anesthesia and completed within about 2 hours. You can return home the same day without any separate hospitalization.

When are the sutures removed?

Sutures at the alar incision site are removed around 7 days after surgery, and the recovery period is also roughly 7 days.

Where does the scar remain?

Because the incision and suturing follow the crease line at the border between the ala and the face, the scar remains in a relatively inconspicuous location.

When can I wash my face and apply makeup?

Washing your face and applying makeup are possible one week after surgery. In the early recovery period, please avoid irritating the incision site.

Can it be done together with other nose surgeries?

Alar reduction is often performed together with rhinoplasty, nose tip surgery, and the like, and it is decided through consultation based on your nose condition and desired line.
