What ingredient is the Ellanse injection made of?
It is a self-collagen-generating filler composed of PCL (Polycaprolactone) microparticles (30%), an ingredient used in medical sutures, and CMC (70%), a water-soluble gel carrier.
How is it different from ordinary hyaluronic acid (HA) filler or Sculptra?
HA filler: gives immediate volume but has a short duration and absorbs moisture. Sculptra: a PLLA powder ingredient that requires waiting 2–3 months until your own collagen fills in. Ellanse: you get both immediate volume from the CMC gel right after treatment and continuous self-collagen generation from the PCL particles at the same time.
When can I feel the results after treatment?
Immediate volume appears right after injection from the CMC gel. Around weeks 4–8, as the CMC gel is absorbed, you may feel the volume slightly decrease, but as your own collagen forms around the PCL, the volume continues to be maintained.
Is there any risk of nodules (hard lumps) forming as a side effect?
Because the PCL particles are smooth and spherical, clumping side effects are relatively rare. However, if it is injected into too shallow a skin layer or there is a technical error, nodules can form, so precise treatment is essential.
Is there an injection that can dissolve it right away if I'm not satisfied?
There is no antidote (dissolving injection) that dissolves it instantly. It is safely and completely broken down in the body into water and carbon dioxide over the promised period and metabolized, so the initial design and proper dosage are very important.
Which areas (skin concerns) is it most recommended for?
It is most effective for areas that need lasting, natural volume restoration, such as sunken cheeks, nasolabial folds, temples, and the forehead.
Can it be injected under the eyes or in the lips?
For areas with very thin skin, such as under the eyes or the lips, treatment is not recommended or must be performed with extreme care due to the risk of nodules and visible lumps.
How much pain and downtime (swelling, bruising) is there during treatment?
Because an anesthetic component (lidocaine) is mixed in, or it is injected with a cannula after local anesthesia, pain is relatively minimal. Slight swelling and bruising may occur for about 2–3 days after treatment.
Right after treatment, won't the skin look excessively puffed up or unnatural?
Unlike Sculptra, the initial water-soluble gel (CMC) fills in exactly the designed amount of volume, so from the treatment day it looks very natural apart from the swelling.
After the promised duration (2 years) passes, how does it break down inside the skin?
The volume is maintained consistently during the promised duration, and when the period is up, it is 100% broken down and metabolized in the body into water and carbon dioxide and perfectly excreted.
